Experienced Midfielder Joins Stourbridge

Fourth new signing for Glassboys.

Mark Yates, manager of Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club Stourbridge, has swooped to sign experienced midfielder James McQuilkin from Vanarama National League North side Hereford FC

Yates has already brought in Jason Cowley from Bromsgrove Sporting, Reece King from Buxton and Lee Vaughan from Barnet to add to his squad for 2021/22.

Now 32-year-old McQuilkin checks into the War Memorial Athletic Ground with a wealth of experience to call upon.

He began his career as a schoolboy with West Bromwich Albion but was released in 2007 after six years with the club.

He signed for Tescoma Zlin, in the Czech Republic. However, after just a season in their B team and a handful of senior appearances, he returned to the UK and joined Hereford United.

After four seasons at Edgar Street, he left and signed for Walsall, earning a one-year deal in July 2013.

After leaving the Saddlers, he had a short spell with Hednesford Town before switching south to Torquay United, leaving in April 2015.

A brief spell at AFC Telford United saw him move on to Hednesford again, from where he joined Kidderminster Harriers.

A summer move in June 2018 saw him re-join National League North club Telford for a second time before he re-joined Hereford in October 2020.
