Waltham Abbey, who will be embarking on their first campaign in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central after being switched from the Isthmian South Central by the FA, have added five new players to their squad to date.

In addition to ten players who have committed to the Abbots from last season`s squad, who were top of the table when the season was voided, James Goode, George Winn, Ibitayo Oyebola, Louis Bowen and Sol Baugh have all moved to Capershotts.

Midfielder Goode, 25, re-joins the club from Isthmian North outfit Aveley, where he had been since joining from Hornchurch in October 2019.

He started his career at Thurrock, playing 113 times and scoring 20 times.

With his time at Thurrock, he proved himself to be a utility player, suited to playing in midfield and in defence at full back and centrally so will prove a great asset to the Millers.

After Thurrock folded, manager Mark Stimson and a large part of the squad moved with him to Waltham abbey as did Goode, making 15 appearances for the Abbots.

And after the opening at Hornchurch due to the departure of Jim McFarlane, he followed Stimpson again to Bridge Avenue in December 2018, helping the Urchins stay up in the Isthmian Premier.

Another returnee is 25-year-old defender Winn, who was also last on the books at Aveley.

He signed for the Millers in July 2020 from Hornchurch, for whom he joined from the Abbots at the beginning of December 2018.

Prior to his first spell at Capershotts, he was at Thurrock whom he joined in October 2015 and also had time at Redbridge.

Winger Oyebola, who turns 29 next week, joins from former league rivals Staines Town.

He had signed for the Swans in February 2020 having been at Harlow Town, Molesey, Chipstead and Hartley Wintney.

Bowen is a 28-year-old centre-back who is another back for a second spell with the club.

He had joined Isthmian Premier outfit East Thurrock United in July 2020, having been with the Abbots since 2018 after arriving from rivals Hertford Town.

He had joined the Blues from Ware a few months earlier, having been at Wodson Park since 2017.

He had a couple of spells with Spartan South Midland Leaguers Hoddesdon Town sandwiched by a three-season stint with Hadley.

Highly-rated young 18-year-old midfielder Baugh, meanwhile, makes the step up from Spartan South Midlands Leaguers Edgware Town.
