Stratford Add Tenth Newcomer to Squad

Experienced forward joins the Bards.

Stratford Town have taken their number of new arrivals at the Arden Garages Stadium ahead of the 2021/22 Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division season to ten with the signing of experienced forward Ahmed Obeng.

The 29-year-old, born in Ghana, moved to England with his family as a youngster and was spotted by Rushall Olympic while playing for now the defunct Bloxwich United in the West Midlands (Regional) League.

He signed for the then-Northern Premier League Pics in the summer of 2010, helping them to promotion to the Premier Division in his first season.

He spent four seasons at Dales Lane, making over 180 appearances and scoring 56 goals before Kidderminster Harriers paid an undisclosed fee to Rushall, offering him the opportunity to step into full-time football in 2014.

After a season in the Vanarama National League, he joined Hednesford Town for 2015/16, before linking up with Stafford Rangers towards the end of the campaign, helping them to promotion.

He joined National League North outfit Leamington in the summer of 2016 and has made in excess of 150 appearances for the Brakes.

In August 2019 he moved to Stratford`s league rivals Tamworth and then returned to Rushall in July 2020 and then had a spell with Midland League Premier Division side Boldmere St Michaels from October 2020 until lockdown.
