Experienced Midfielder Signs for Leiston

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central club Leiston have signed vastly experienced midfielder Ryan Jarvis.

The 35-year-old makes the short journey from relegated Lowestoft Town, who will be plying their trade in the Isthmian League next season.

Jarvis had re-joined Lowestoft in the summer of 2021 from then-Vanarama National League side King`s Lynn Town, where he had been since June 2017 after arriving from the Trawlerboys.

A graduate of the Norwich City youth system, he became the Canaries youngest ever first-team player at 16 years and 282 days when making his debut in April 2003 and their youngest ever goalscorer later that year.

He went on to make 36 appearances, scoring 5 goals, before being released in May 2008.

During his time with the Canaries, he had played for England at under-16, 17 and under-19 levels and had loan spells with Colchester United, Leyton Orient, Kilmarnock and Notts County.

On release from Carrow Road he returned to Orient for a two-year spell making a total of 89 appearances, scoring 14 goals - a spell which also saw a loan period of 4 games at Northampton Town.

He then spent a season a Walsall, making 25 appearances, scoring 3 goals, with his season ending on loan at Torquay United.

The Gulls were impressed enough to sign him for the 2012/13 season, and he went on to make 41 appearances and score 9 goals.

From there he moved on to York City for two seasons where 49 appearances saw him score 9 goals and also had a loan spell at Aldershot Town.

He originally joined Lowestoft in the summer of 2015.

Leiston’s joint boss Darren Eadie told his club’s website: “Ryan will bring valuable experience from higher level clubs in his career, and also leadership on the pitch to help our younger players to develop”.
