Clarke Becomes Reds Number Two

Welcomes new challenge

Redditch United have announced that Matt Clarke has joined the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central club as assistant manager.

Clarke has spent a number of years at Halesowen Town where he was assistant-manager; following that he had a short spell with Nuneaton Borough.

Strangely enough, his first game in the dug-out will be against his former club on New Year’s Day, where the Reds face Halesowen Town at the Trico Stadium.

Manager Paul Smith told the club`s website: “I was inundated with calls and messages from prospective assistants. Once I had spoken with Matt, it was clear that he was the perfect fit.

“We have known each other for a number of years and is someone I can trust. His experience at this level will be invaluable going forward, and it’s another very strong addition to my backroom staff.”

On joining Redditch, Clarke said: “I am really looking forward to the new challenge. I’ve enjoyed a short break, but my batteries are recharged and once I had spoken with Paul it was a no-brainer. Paul has done a great job and hopefully, I can come in and help push us on again”.
