Basingstoke's Manager leaves by mutual consent

Club Statement

Martin Kuhl has departed his role as Manager of Basingstoke Town – Martin leaves the Club by mutual consent after discussions with the Board

– Comments from Chairman Terry Brown
Martin Kuhl has today departed his role as Manager of Basingstoke Town by mutual consent The 54-year-old leaves Town with both parties, the club and Martin, agreeing this is the correct move for Martin and for the future of the Club.

Basingstoke Town Chairman Terry Brown explained:
“I’d like to begin by thanking Martin for all his efforts and hard-work since joining the club and it is a shame that in these difficult circumstances the club find ourselves in, Martin was unable to replicate the success he has had elsewhere. As a club; it was a difficult decision to make as we are all too aware that during the time of his stewardship our off-field matters have affected the playing side, with Martin having to work under very limited resources.”

“The term ‘mutual consent’ is often a linked synonym for the manager being sacked in football, but this is a truly joint decision. We would like to thank Martin for his efforts and we’ve no doubt that his illustrious career in football will continue.”

Martin will leave his post with immediate effect and Assistant Manager, Dan Brownlie has been asked to take over 1st Team training duties and our away fixture at AFC Totton on Saturday as the Board look at options to secure the best path for our 1st Team. Further announcements will be made in due course.
