Weather hits again!!

Midweek Review - Premier South

Once again the weather hit Tuesday night`s fixtures in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South.

The games at Hartley Wintney, leaders Truro City and, once again, at Poole Town were all postponed, leaving just the matches at Gosport Borough and Merthyr Town on. At Privett Park, Gosport moved level on points with eighth-placed Poole and five behind the top five with a 1-0 win against tenth-placed Weston-super-Mare.

The Seagulls, looking to bounce back after last Saturday`s 5-1 hammering at Hayes & Yeading United, looked to be up against it again when they had Cardiff City loanee Lloyd Humphries sent-off for a two-footed challenge on Marley Ridge 4 minutes before half time. But they regrouped at the break and made it hard for the hosts. The breakthrough finally came 15 minutes from time when Charlie Davis` cross was converted by Dan Strugnell.

Merthyr hosted a Hayes & Yeading side buoyed by that win over Weston but were unbeaten in five themselves going into the contest. And the visitors moved up to sixth and to within a point of fifth-placed Taunton Town after a 2-1 success at the Loadlok Community Stadium. But they had to come back from being the 17th minute Kyle Patten goal down to obtain the points. Omar Rowe equalised within 2 minutes though and the same player grabbed what proved to be the winner 6 minutes into the second half.
