Stourbridge maintained their unbeaten start to the 2020/21 Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central season on Monday night but had to be content with one point from a 1-1 draw against Nuneaton Borough.

A good Covid-19 secure crowd of 573 at the War Memorial Athletic Ground saw the Glassboys play some excellent football but were thwarted by a battling Boro side.

It took only 5 minutes after kick-off for the hosts to take the lead when Bradley Birch received the ball on the edge of the box and slid it past the onrushing Tony Breeden in the Nuneaton goal.

But Jimmy Ginnelly`s side were back on level terms just 9 minutes later when Ravi Shamsi somehow found himself in quite a lot of space just outside the six-yard box and he smashed the ball past Stourbridge `keeper Charlie Price.

At that time, it appeared as though there were going to be plenty of goals in the game.

However, some dogged defending and one or two poor finishes saw the scoreline finish at 1-1 and honours even.
