Tuesday`s Pitching In Southern Football League Division One South Round-Up

Looking at a reduced fixture list last night.

The Pitching In Southern Football League Division One South lost the games at Barnstaple Town and Sholing to waterlogged pitches. However, three games did take place and Cirencester Town moved to the top of the table.

John Brough`s side beat a Willand Rovers side who travelled to the Corinium Stadium unbeaten in their previous five games and buoyed by an 8-2 hammering of Barnstaple last weekend.

But they fell behind after just 7 minutes to a Levi Irving effort.

It wasn`t until just past the hour-mark that the Centurians stretched their advantage through Joe Shepherd and then Josh Parsons made sure with a third in the 75th minute.

Basingstoke Town recovered from last Saturday`s defeat at home to AFC Totton to win for the first time `back home`.

Dan Brownlie`s men comfortably saw off bottom side Mangotsfield United, who have now lost six out of six league matches.

It was almost game over by the 6th minute as the hosts found themselves 2-0 up through Brad Wilson and George Reid.

And when Shaun Dallimore made it 3-0 with only 35 minutes gone on the clock, Mangos supporters in the 400 crowd must have feared the worst.

But Basingstoke were unable to add to their tally, although they will be happy enough to record the first win at Winklebury.

Basingstoke are now third and just behind them in fourth are neighbours and their former landlords Winchester City after they won 2-1 at Cinderford Town.

It was the Foresters who went in front through Kieran Alder after 14 minutes.

Ollie Balmer gave the Citizens parity on the half-hour mark and on 56 minutes, Rob Flooks scored what proved to be City`s winner.
