Harrow Boss Extends His Stay

New deal for Baker.

Harrow Borough have announced that manager Steve Baker has agreed to sign a contract to extend his stay with the Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club for a further two years.

Baker joined Harrow in January 2015 from Isthmian League South side Chipstead for whom he had been first-team manager since 2013.

He replaced new Barnet assistant boss Dave Anderson in the hot seat at Earlsmead.

During a distinguished playing career, Baker carved out a good reputation with Hayes, Yeading, Hendon and Egham Town before becoming player-coach with Chertsey Town.

He had begun his coaching career working for franchise soccer schools in conjunction with Arsenal and Chelsea and continued to develop them as the first-team coach at St Albans City.

After two years as manager at Egham, he continued to hone his coaching skills with Beaconsfeld SYCOB and Wingate & Finchley before moving back into management with Walton & Hersham in 2013.

His stay at Stompond Lane was short lived, however, before he moved on to Chipstead.

During the latest lockdown we have been examining ways of taking the club forward and are determined to hit the ground running when the new season starts.

The club see Baker as being a core part of these plans and will be working hard to ensure that he has all the support he needs to see strengthened on-field performances.

Baker told his club`s website: “Following an extremely positive meeting with the chairman and the Board last week, I have agreed to sign a new contract for the next two seasons.

“Despite the tough times over the last year, the way the club has treated myself and the players has been first class and played a big part in my decision.

“There is also a lot of work going on behind the scenes to give the team every chance of an exciting season in 2021/22. Player recruitment has already started and I'm hopeful to announce some signings in the next couple of weeks. Given the time we have missed I’m eager to go again and the hard work starts again now”.
