Tiago Sa
Dorchester Town have announced that Tiago Sa and Charlie Madden have both committed to the Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Portugal-born 22-year-old Sa is a versatile defender who signed for the Magpies in the close season of 2019, having been with Vanarama National League South neighbours Weymouth the previous season.
He also had a short loan spell with Dorchester in September 2018.
The full-back, who enters his third full season at The Avenue Stadium, scored his first Magpies goal in what was their last competitive home match against Gosport Borough in the Buildbase FA Trophy last October.
Dorchester boss Robbie Herrera told his club`s website: “I’m pleased that Tiago's going to be staying with us. He has started to mature as a player.
“His defensive role and his understanding of his defensive duties are improving, and there's obviously still more to come from him - we like the way that he joins in and gets forward, and while we also need to work on his delivery, he's one that can push on.
“Like I say there’s lots more to come from him, and one that we look to maybe in a little while push up and play higher.”
Madden originally signed for the Magpies last summer from league rivals Weston-super-Mare.
Charlie Madden
The 24-year-old had joined the Seagulls in June 2019 after completing a four-year scholarship in the USA.
The imposing 6`3” centre-back is also capable of playing in central midfield, came through the ranks with Exeter City and upon completing his scholarship was not offered a contract and left the Grecians in 2015.
He made the move to American university Franklin Pierce during the latter part of 2015.
He took up majoring in sports management while also taking a four-year scholarship with the team.
During his four years at the university, he made 40 appearances and scored 5 goals before returning to England and signing for the Seagulls.
Herrera said: “I’m pleased to have him signed up again for the coming season. There's a bonus in that he can play at the back, or he can do a job in midfield.”
“Charlie’s got bags of talent, we just need to keep him fit and firing.”
“He's another one that we will look to push on - he could play higher, that's without a shadow of doubt, but just needs to apply himself a little bit better, and hopefully we're going to give the platform to do that this coming season”.
