Good Start For Two League New Boys

Two of the Pitching In Southern Football League`s new clubs were involved in early pre-season friendly action on Wednesday night.

Division One Central club Ware hammered old rivals and now Essex Senior League side Hoddesdon Town 8-0 at Wodson Park.

Dutch forward Albert Adu and former Enfield Town favourite Liam Hope both bagged braces for the hosts, with Finlay Tomlinson, Richard Bryan and two promising youngsters from Ware`s under-18 set-up, Lawrence Ajong and Liam Dulson, completed the scoring.

Division One South new boys, Plymouth Parkway, made the relatively short trip to take on South West Peninsula League Premier Division South side Ivybridge Town.

And the ambitious Devonians went ahead after 38 minutes when a good ball from new signing Tom Bath put Callum Hall through to beat the home `keeper.

Bath, signed from Southern Premier Division South outfit Dorchester Town last month, had a penalty saved 5 minutes after half-time. However, with 15 minutes remaining, Parkway added a second with a fine far post finish from Mikey Williams.

Ivybridge managed to reduce the deficit in the 84th minute through one of their summer signings, Ollie Aplin, but it ended 2-1 to the Step 4 newcomers.
