Another Checks Into Alfredian Park

And another agrees to stay.

Ben Barrett

Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central club Wantage Town have made one more new signing and seen another of last season`s squad commit for the new campaign.

Moving into Alfredian Park is midfielder Ben Barrett from league rivals North Leigh.

The 21-year-old joined the Millers on a more permanent basis in the summer of 2020.

He stepped up to Vanarama National League South side Oxford City`s first team in 2018/19, having graduated through the academy programme at Marsh Lane.

Despite only making a handful of appearances, he really showed his talent in these opportunities, particularly in the Buildbase FA Trophy against Maidenhead United and Maidstone United, before he moved to North Leigh on loan towards the end of that season.

He made 6 appearances for the Millers that season and played in the incredible draw against league champions Peterborough Sports on the final day of the season that saw North Leigh survive relegation.

Meanwhile, midfielder Charlie Kille has agreed to stay at Alfredian Park, despite interest from clubs higher in the football Pyramid.

The 22-year-old midfielder initially put pen-to-paper for the Fred`s last summer.

He was previously with the now-defunct Hellenic League outfit Brackley Town Saints and made 10 appearances, scoring one goal in the truncated 2020/21 campaign.
