Much-Travelled Midfielder Checks Into Lye Meadow

Much-travelled attacking midfielder Claudio Dias has joined Alvechurch from Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central rivals AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

The 26-year-old was signed in time to make his Church bow off the bench in the 2-1 win over Barwell at Lye Meadow on Saturday.

Dias joined Diamonds in August from another league rival, Nuneaton Borough.

He had signed for Boro in June 2020 from yet another Southern Premier Division Central side Banbury United, for whom he made 26 league appearances in 2019/20 ahead of lockdown in March.

He originally came through the Northampton Town youth system and signed a professional deal with the Cobblers in March 2013, prior to making his first team debut against Barnet in the final league game of that season.

The following season he had a loan spell with Corby Town before having two loan spells that season with Banbury.

After being released by Northampton at the end of season 2013/14, he went on to play for Dunstable Town, Bedford Town, Barton Rovers, Brackley Town, Braintree Town and Potton United.

At the start of the 2018/19 season, he joined Stratford Town before moving to Tamworth in January 2019, moving to Banbury at the start of last season.
