Saturday`s Premier Division Central Round-Up

Leiston were the only team top five in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central bot to win on Saturday, so it`s as you were, with Coalville Town still leading the table by three points.

Adam Stevens` side were the ones to inflict defeat on Leiston, running out 4-1 winners at the Mander Cruickshank Solicitors Stadium.

Connor Smith gave the home side a 31st-minute lead that Luke Shaw added to 5 minutes before half-time.

Two minutes after the restart, Tim Berridge added a third and a Finlay Barnes own goal on the hour-mark finished the game off as a contest, although Kai Fletcher did manage an 87th minute consolation for the Suffolk side.

Second-placed Peterborough Sports took their goals-for column past the 50-mark in just 15 games after hammering third-bottom St Ives Town 7-2 at Westwood Road.

The first half saw the sides go into the break all-square at 2-2 after Ryan Fryatt and Dion Sembie-Ferris` efforts were cancelled out by Ben Toseland in the 36th and 41st minutes.

But the second half saw Jordan Nicholson bag a brace in the 58th and 63rd minutes and then St Ives went down to ten-men on 66 minutes when Cam McWilliams was issued with two quickfire yellow cards.

That gave Sports more space to maneuver the ball around and they added three more through Josh McCammon on 80 minutes, Mani Sani 6 minutes later and then a debut goal from loan signing from Decarrey Sheriff, who scored a spectacular overhead kick to make it 7-2 in the 3rd minute of stoppage time after coming off the bench.

Banbury United made it 14 games unbeaten in the league as they won 3-0 at the Plant Hire Community Stadium against fourth-from-bottom Lowestoft Town.

The Puritans found themselves three-up at the break in front of a crowd of 610 with a Henry Landers penalty for handball opening the account on 26 minutes, Kevin Langmead adding a second 4 minutes later and then Ben Acquaye immediately scoring a third.

The Trawlerboys had the lions` share of the second half without managing to find a reply.

Rushall Olympic are fourth, four points behind Banbury, after a 3-0 success at Stratford Town, who have lost their last four league games and have dropped down to 17th in the table.

Callum Coyle gave the Pics a 32nd-minute lead that Tyler Little doubled with a fine free-kick 3 minutes later.

Danny Glover added the third just past the hour-mark.

Alvechurch are sixth and Royston Town are now seventh after wins for both on Saturday.

Ian Long`s Church men won 1-0 at Top Field against bottom side Hitchin Town, whose results had picked up of late.

But, despite playing some good stuff, the Canaries were finally undone by a goal as early as the 8th minute from Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton.

Royston moved above Hednesford Town in the table after a 2-0 Garden Walk victory.

However, the Pitmen did finish the game with only nine-men!

The Crows led courtesy of a first-minute Ronnie Henry goal.

Chay Tily was shown a straight red card after 53 minutes, and then Josh Endall was dismissed on 63 minutes for deliberate handball, less than a minute after coming off the bench and Brandon Adams converted the resulting penalty to double the home side`s lead.

Stourbridge, Bromsgrove Sporting and Needham Market, who started the day in the bottom half, all won to move up to 15th, 14th and 12th respectively.

The Glassboys enjoyed a first league win under the new management team of Stuart Pierpoint and Leon Broadhurst with a 2-0 home success over Biggleswade Town in front of 668.

Recent signing Reece Styche headed the opener to break the deadlock after 73 minutes and then added a second 6 minutes from after being played through.

There were 632 at the Victoria Ground to see Bromsgrove beat Barwell by the same scoreline.

Joel Kettle was the one who bagged both the Rouslers goals in the 25th and 73rd minutes.

Needham Market had a good 1-0 win at Bloomfields against a Tamworth side who began the day in sixth spot.

Callum Page gave the Marketmen a 21st-minute lead.

The Lambs` chances of getting back into the game took a severe blow when they had Alex Jones dismissed 9 minutes from time.

However, it took a terrific save from Marcus Garnham to deny Lucas Yeomans a stoppage-time equaliser for the ten-men.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are now tenth after also winning 1-0 at their Hayden Road home against Redditch United.

Nathan Tshikuna`s goal after 16 minutes eventually proving enough for Diamonds.
