Saturday's Pre-Season Friendly Round-Up

This was probably the busiest Saturday of pre-season to date for clubs in the Pitching In Southern Football League.

Premier Division Central

Coalville Town produced an excellent performance to beat Vanarama National League North outfit Spennymoor Town 1-0 on their own patch.

Tendai Chitiza scored the only goal to give the Ravens victory on their trip to the north east.

Bromsgrove Sporting enjoyed a good 1-0 win against National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town at the Victoria Ground.

Jonathan Letford scored the only goal of the game 11 minutes from time.

Alvechurch beat Northern Premier Division One Midlands side Sporting Khalsa 2-0 with goals from Leo Brown and Danny Waldron.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds beat Khlasa’s league rivals Daventry Town to claim the Hobbs Memorial Trophy.

Connor Furlong with a brace and an unnamed triallist the Diamonds` scorers.

Royston Town beat Isthmian League Premier Division side Potters Bar Town 1-0 at Garden Walk with a Matt Bateman effort just before the break being the only difference between the teams.

Newcomers Basford United’s penultimate friendly ended in a 1-0 defeat away at another NPL Division One Midlands outfit, Shepshed Dynamo, for whom Zayn Hakeem’s strike just after the break proved the difference.

Newly promoted Bedford Town were beaten 4-1 at The Eyrie by National League outfit Wealdstone.

Connor Tomlinson had given the Eagles a 16th-minute lead that a triallist on 34 minutes, Max Kretzschmar 4 minutes later and then in the 42nd minute and Dom Hutchinson 15 minutes from time cancelled out.

Rushall Olympic were beaten 3-2 at Midland League Premier Division Walsall Wood.

A brace from right back Lewis Riley-Stewart and one from Kevin Monteiro for Wood edged out Will Shorrock and John Atherton efforts for the Pics.

Leiston’s decent form in pre-season continued with a 5-0 win over Thurlow Nunn League neighbours Kirkley & Pakefield.

Adam Mills netted a hat-trick in the 46th, 60th and 92nd minutes, with Joe Marsden bagging the other two in the 40th minute from the spot and then 7 minutes into stoppage time.

A goal from Seth Chambers on 68 minutes separated Needham Market from Isthmian North visitors Maldon & Tiptree at Bloomfields.

Redditch United secured a 3-1 win at North West Counties Leaguers AFC Blackpool.

Kings Langley beat Spartan South Midlands Leaguers Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 3-0.

Jorell Johnson from 25 yards, an unnamed triallist and Edu Toiny-Pendred were the Kings` scorers.

Newcomers Ilkeston Town beat NPL Division One Midlands new boys Hinckley LR 1-0, courtesy of an early Montel Gibson effort.

Hitchin Town won 2-1 at New Roker Park against Spartan South Midlands League neighbours Stotfold.

A late goal from new signing Jack Morrell won it for the Canaries after an unnamed triallist had cancelled out Cody Spavins` early goal for the hosts.

Nuneaton Borough were beaten 2-1 by the seaside at Northern Counties East Leaguers Skegness Town, with Shaquille Master scoring Boro’s consolation.

Another newcomer, Hadley, won 2-1 at Spartan South Midlands Leaguers Cockfosters.

Premier Division South

Weston-super-Mare suffered a 5-1 Optima Stadium defeat to National League South visitors Weymouth.

Marlon Jackson actually gave the Seagulls a 9th minute lead but goals from Dan Matsuzaka, Tom Blair, Tom Bearwish Harry Kyprianou and former Weston favourite Brad Ash from the spot secured a comfortable win for the Terras.

Merthyr Town won the Brian Lomax Cup with a 4-2 success against NPL Division One West visitors City of Liverpool.

Camden Duncan on 6 and 29 minutes and Gethyn Hill on 34 and 62 minute were the Martyrs scorers.

Harrow Borough won by the same scoreline at Honeycroft against Isthmian South Central neighbours Uxbridge.

Winchester City edged a 3-2 win at the Snows Stadium against former Division One South rivals AFC Totton.

Archie Wilcox, Ike Hill and a Warren Bentley penalty for City and Scott Rendell’s spot kick and Luke Hallett for the Stags.

Dorchester Town enjoyed a 3-1 Avenue Stadium win over Division One South new boys Hamworthy United.

After falling behind to a 12th minute Sam Griffin goal, Shaq Gwengwe equalised 6 minutes later and then Harvey-Joe Bertrand put the Magpies in front on 22 minutes, with a third coming 5 minutes from time via Alfie Stanley.

Metropolitan Police inflicted a 5-1 drubbing on fancied Isthmian Premier Division side Horsham at Imber Court.

Jasper Mather with two, Jordan Alves, Ndombe and Donte Thompson-Prempeh with the Met’s goals and the Hornets` reply being an own goal.

Newly promoted North Leigh were beaten 3-0 at last season’s Premier Division Central champions Banbury United, whose goals came from Henry Landers, Jack Stevens and Ben Acquaye.

A complete team of triallists for Hayes & Yeading United won 3-0 at Isthmian Premier Division Kingstonian.

Hartley Wintney secured a 3-0 win at Isthmian South East side Haywards Heath Town.

Kyen Nicholas in the 21st and 50th minutes after Isaac Charles had given them a 6th minute lead were the Row marksmen.

Son Lee Allinson’s Hendon beat father Ian Allinson’s National League South St Albans City 1-0 at Silver Jubilee Park.

An early 3rd minute 20-yarder from Isaac Galliford won it for the Greens.

A goal from Louis Walsh earned Beaconsfield Town a good 1-0 win at the Pilot Field against Isthmian Premier hosts Hastings United.

Chesham United won 2-1 at Spartan South Midlands neighbours Risborough Rangers.

Division One Central

Thame United shared a competitive 1-1 home draw with Isthmian South Central new boys Southall.

A 30-yard Dan West free-kick had given the Red Kites a 34th minute lead.

AFC Dunstable won 4-0 at Spartan South Midlands Leaguers Tring Athletic.

Nathan Frater after 16 minutes and Lucas Kirkpatrick in first half injury-time gave the OD’s a 2-0 lead at the break.

Inevitably, BJ Christie got on target 8 minutes into the second half, with Louis Collier adding a fourth just past the hour-mark.

Salisbury won 4-2 at the Ray Mac against Division One South side Sholing.

Antonio Diaz with two, Brandon Goodship and Dan Fitchett for the Whites and Rob Flooks and Owen Roundell for the Boatmen.

Welwyn Garden City defeated Isthmian South Central side Marlow 2-0 with goals from Archie Sayer and Josh Grantham.

Newly promoted Walthamstow shared a 1-1 draw at Phoenix Sports, who were relegated to the Southern Counties East League at the end of last season.

Willand Rovers shared a 2-2 draw with Western League Premier Division hosts Falmouth Town at Bickland Park.

Will Richards and Josh Baker for Rovers and Andreas Calleja-Stayne and Jack Bray-Evans scored for Town.

Larkhall Athletic went down to a 2-1 defeat at Western Leaguers Bradford Town, with Rob Hobbs the Larks` scorer.

Evesham United shared a 2-2 draw at home to Premier Division Central side Stourbridge.

Recent signing Chris Knight and Callum Gittings for the Glassboys and a Kyle Belmonte double for the Robins.

Cirencester Town were edged out 2-1 at the Corinium Stadium by National League South side Chippenham Town.

Matt Jones and Will King for the Bluebirds and Jordan Lymn for the Centurians.

Melksham Town made no mistake at Western League Division One Warminster Town, running out 5-0 winners.

Aaron Parson, Sam Hendy, Luke Ballinger and Jay Malshanskyj with two for Melksham.

Newly promoted Westbury United were on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat to Western League Premier side Shepton Mallet – Harvey Flippance the Westbury scorer.

Another newcomer, Bashley, drew 1-1 at former Wessex League rivals Blackfield & Langley, with Harry McGrath on target for the visitors.

And another, Exmouth Town, enjoyed a 5-2 home win over the youngsters of League Two Exeter City.

Levi Landricombe netted a hat-trick with Ben Steer and Ace High also getting in on the act.

Lymington Town won 4-1 at Wessex Leaguers Hythe & Dibden.

George Britton, Dom Thelen, Harrison Cable and a triallist were the Linnets` scorers.
