Tuesday's Pre-Season Friendly Round-Up

More friendlies played involving clubs in the Pitching In Southern Football League.

Premier Division Central

Newcomers Ilkeston Town enjoyed a useful 3-2 win against Vanarama National League North side Boston United at the Microlise New Manor Ground.

Montel Gibson broke the deadlock after a goalless opening period when he opened the scoring from 30 yards after 56 minutes.

Just 3 minutes later, Micah Obiero pulled the Pilgrims level and 2 minutes after that, Kyron Gordon had them 2-1 up.

A 64th minute header from Gibson pulled the Robins level, and it was Gibson again who made it 3-2 with a volley on 78 minutes to complete his hat-trick.

Bromsgrove Sporting shared a 1-1 draw at Walshes Meadow against Midland League Premier Division hosts Stourport Swifts.

Dan Sweeney equalised in the 58th minute for the Rouslers after Swifts had taken the lead via a penalty shortly after the break.

A crowd of 375 saw Hitchin Town earn a 0-0 draw with a strong Championship side Watford at Top Field.

Coalville Town beat Northern Premier Division One Midlands visitors Corby Town 3-0.

The Ravens goals came from Tom McGlinchey, Ash Chambers and Ronnie Morley.

Stourbridge enjoyed a good 1-0 win over last season’s league champions Banbury United at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

Rackeem Reid scored the only goal for the Glassboys.

Leiston edged out Isthmian North hosts AFC Sudbury 2-1.

George Quantrell gave the Blues an early 7th minute lead and Will Davies won it for the visitors 3 minutes from time after Sudbury had levelled just before the break.

Stratford Town lost 4-1 at the Arden Garages Stadium to National League side Woking.

Curvin Ellis got the Bards` consolation.

Rushall Olympic chalked up a 3-0 Dales Lane win over a youthful squad from League Two neighbours Walsall.

Reece Mitchell, Will Shorrock and former Saddler Sam Mantom were the Pics on the mark.

Alvechurch lost 4-1 at Lye Meadow to National League North side Hereford.

Tyrell Hamilton was the `Church scorer just past the hour-mark but Ryan Lloyd, Tyrone Barnett, Ryan McLean and an unnamed triallist won it for the Bulls.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds shared a 1-1 draw at Hayden Road against National League North side Brackley Town.

New signing Jenson Cooper equalised from 25 yards on 68 minutes after James Armson had given the Saints a 25th minute lead.

Barwell were 3-1 home winners over Northern Premier Division One Midlands neighbours Bedworth United.

Hednesford Town won 3-0 at Midland Leaguers Lichfield City with goals from Andre Landell with two and an unnamed triallist.


Premier Division South

Hartley Wintney shared a 1-1 draw at Waterside Park against Isthmian League South Central Division side Thatcham Town.

A 37th minute Aaron McLeish-White effort was cancelled out around the hour-mark from the penalty spot for the Kingfishers.

Hendon enjoyed a 4-0 win at Thatcham’s league rivals Tooting & Mitcham United.

Frank Keita gave the Greens a 26th minute lead that was added to in the second period by Danny Williams on 51 minutes, Bobson Bawling 8 minutes later and then an 81st minute Dave Diedhiou effort.

Merthyr Town had a good 5-0 win at Ardal League hosts Abertillery Bluebirds.

Frazer Thomas gave the Martyrs an early 4th minute lead and a Ricardo Rees brace on 13 and 53 minutes made it 3-0.

Just past the hour-mark, Lewis Powell added a fourth a on 65 minutes, Curtis Huston made it a nap hand for the visitors.

Swindon Supermarine were beaten 3-0 at the Webbswood Stadium by last season’s league champions Taunton Town.

Goals from Ollie Chamberlain after 36 and 65 minutes and one from Harry Warwick just before the end won it for the National League South new boys.

Salisbury’s indifferent pre-season continued with a 3-2 defeat at Wessex League neighbours Andover Town.

And the Whites led 2-0 too with goals from Brandon Goodship in the first half.

Dorchester Town and National League side Yeovil Town shared a 0-0 draw at the Avenue Stadium.

Hayes & Yeading United were beaten 1-0 at National League South newcomers Cheshunt.

New boys Hanwell Town beat a squad from Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers 4-2.

Gareth Chendlik netted a hat-trick for the Geordies, including a penalty, with Harry Rush adding the other.

Division One Central

Biggleswade Town shared a 3-3 draw at Northern Premier Division One Midlands side St Neots Town at the Premier Plus Stadium.

Jon Clements bagged a brace for Robbie O’Keefe’s side, with Harry Draper adding the other.

Thame United defeated Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 3-0 at the ASM Stadium.

Dan West, Dave Pearce and an unnamed triallist the Red Kites` marksmen.

Kidlington enjoyed a good 3-2 Yarnton Road win over newly promoted Premier Division South side North Leigh, for whom an unnamed triallist bagged both goals.

AFC Dunstable won 2-1 at Spartan South Midlands Premier Division promotion favourites Leighton Town.

A goal with the last kick of the game from former Leighton Town player Louis Collier gave AFC victory after he had earlier cancelled out Archie McClelland’s opener for the hosts.


Division One South

Slimbridge enjoyed a good 2-1 win at Thornhill Park against Premier Division South side Weston-super-Mare.

An own goal from keeper Luke Purnell 5 minutes before the break gave the Swans a lead that new signing Jacob Geddes doubled 3 minutes after half-time.

Jordan Baston pulled one back on 55 minutes, but the Seagulls were unable to find a leveller.

Sholing drew 2-2 at home to Weston’s new league rivals Winchester City.

The Boatmen took a 24th minute lead with a Rob Flooks header.

The Citizens levelled just before half-time with a Silva Obeng penalty.

On 66 minutes Sholing went down to ten-men when an unnamed triallist was sent-off.

And City took immediate advantage when Dan Jones` 20-yarder made it 2-1.

But 5 minutes from time, Stuart Green pulled the hosts back on level terms.

Newcomers Bishops Cleeve were beaten 5-0 at Kayte Lane by Winchester’s rivals Yate Town.

New loanee Prince Henry broke the deadlock after a goalless first half, Joe Tumelty scored a free-kick from almost on the halfway line and Olly Mehew bagged a brace, including a penalty.

Willand Rovers enjoyed an excellent 5-1 win at home to another Premier Division South outfit, Truro City.

Ollie Bray, Josh Baker, Dean Stamp with two and Lewis Hill for Rovers after Rocky Neal had given the White Tigers an early lead.

Bideford AFC completed a 2-0 win at South West Peninsula Leaguers Elmore.

Louis Jagger Cane and Joe Charles bagged both goals in the opening period.

Goals from Alex Battle, Callum Watson and Josh Grant secured new boys Tavistock AFC’s 3-1 win at another SWPL outfit, Bude Town.

AFC Totton shared the spoils at the Snows Stadium with National League Aldershot Town.

The Stags took an early lead through Ethan Taylor and former Shots’ striker Scott Rendell made it 2-0 with a header.

Archie Davies and a Joe Partington effort from 20 yards pulled the visitors back on level terms before half-time.

Evesham United shared a 1-1 home draw with Premier Division Central side Redditch United.
Ryan Boothe gave the Reds a 31st minute lead.

Evesham’s keeper Fraser Barnsley saved a 75th minute penalty from Ryan Nesbitt and Toumani Sidibe equalised 8 minutes from time.

Newcomers Exmouth Town won 3-1 SWPL side Brixham AFC

Ace High, Dan Cullen and Mark Lever with the Exmouth goals.

Melksham Towm edged a 1-0 win at Hellenic Leaguers Royal Wootton Bassett Town.

Jack Camm’s 25th minute effort proved decisive.
