Chesham Borrow Sutton Defender

Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Chesham United have signed defender Matt Ridley on an initial month’s loan from League Two side Sutton United.


The 22-year-year-old centre-half signed his first professional contract in the summer.

A native of Hartlepool, he joined the U’s in July from Northern Premier League Premier Division side Whitby Town.

He had signed for the Seasiders in January 2022 after returning from the United States, where he played at college level for the University of Nevada.

He also has previous experience on the non-League circuit having previously played for Darlington, Billingham Town and Chester-le-Street as well as Consett on dual registration last season.

He has represented the England College's national team where he captained the side on a tour around Italy.
