Charlie Gunson receiving his award from Annie Greenslade
Several clubs in the Pitching In Southern Football League have already held their awards evening, including Mickleover who have enjoyed a good first campaign in the Premier Division Centra after being switched across from the Northern Premier League Premier Division by the FA last summer.
And John McGrath’s side go into the final week of the 2022/23 season still with a mathematical chance of making the top five.
Sports` player of the year award when to Ethan Mann.
Mann has come through the club’s academy picking up other awards this season, but with 30-plus league appearances this season, he has taken the first team by storm.
The managers` award when to Ryan Wilson, whilst Andy Dales picked up the players` player of the year trophy.
In contrast to Mickleover, it’s been a hugely disappointing season for AFC Rushden & Diamonds, who were confirmed as being relegated in mid-March.
So, it’s back to Step 4 football for Diamonds for the first time since 2018.
Their player of the year, for the second successive season, is goalkeeper Dean Snedker.
Stratford Town were threatened with joining Diamonds in suffering relegation for long periods of the campaign before a run of one defeat in five, and Saturday’s terrific 1-0 win against title-chasing Coalville Town, meant safety for the Bards.
They revealed that experienced defender Paul McCone was their player of the year.
The young player of the year was handed to Dan Lafferty, while the managers` award went to Josh Hawker.
Cody Fisher won the players` player of the year award.
Charlie Gunson was chosen as Premier Division South club Dorchester Town’s supporters` player of the season.
The midfielder has been in fine form this season and scored a number of spectacular strikes with 10 goals in 35 appearances, including the winning goals against Salisbury and Truro City at The Avenue Stadium, plus yet another superb direct free-kick against Hendon on Saturday.
Gunson was also voted as players' player of the year and was presented with his awards pitchside before kick-off on Saturday by Annie Greenslade from Dorchester Town Supporters Club.
