Due to injury and unavailability of the Glassboys` two goalkeepers, joint bosses Stuart Pierpoint and Leon Broadhurst brought in former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wrexham’s Jonathan Flatt on emergency loan – he is the Wolves under-18s goalkeeper coach.
And he turned out to be Stourbridge’s hero.
During normal time, Flatt saved well from Marco Rus and Joel Kettle’s header at the other end came close to breaking the deadlock.
Coventry’s keeper Luke Bell produced a fine save to deny Jason Cowley and he did well to stop Jaiden White from giving the Glassboys the lead.
Callum Gittings was denied by Bell near the end of the 90 minutes but it finished 0-0 and would be decided on penalties.
Flatt saved George Burroughs`s spot-kick and Stourbridge scored all of their four to take the trophy 4-2.
