Pitching In Southern League Division One Central Review

Bedford Town sit pretty

It’s Bedford Town (pictured) who sit pretty at the top of the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central table as the month of August draws to a close.

They won for the fourth time in a row on Bank Holiday Monday with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Biggleswade. First half goals from Louis Walsh and Ryan Blake put them in the driving seat before Daniel Akubuine pulled one back in the second period.

They only other unbeaten team is Kings Langley who overcome the challenge of Aylesbury United 2-0 thanks to strikes from Louie Collier and Frederick Buers in stoppage time.

North Leigh left it late to beat Cirencester Town. Lance Williams put them ahead just before the half-hour mark only for Will Christopher to level before the break. Lynton Goss proceeded to hit the winner within the final ten minutes.

It was an impressive away day for Waltham Abbey as they came home from Welwyn Garden City 4-1 victors. There were also away wins for Ware, for whom a goal in each half gave them a 2-0 triumph at Hertford Town, AFC Dunstable (2-1 at Leighton Town), Biggleswade Town, who had a brace from Charles Miller to thank for a 3-1 success at Stotfold, and Kidlington where Connor Ferguson found the net twice as they prospered at Thame United.

Kempston Rovers moved off the bottom of the table as Taishan Griffith netted a stoppage time equaliser against Barton Rovers. It was Kempston who took the lead through Mathieu Racine but within four minutes Matt Moloney had levelled matters and then an own goal from Charles Campnell put the visitors in front.
