It wasn’t quite as dramatic in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South as three of the evening’s five games ended in a draw.
Walton & Hersham won for the fifth time in seven League outings as a brace of penalties from John Gilbert (pictured) gave them a 2-0 success against a Hayes & Yeading United side that was starting to find a bit of form.
The victory leaves The Swans in fourth place in the table as United remain entrenched in the middle of the table.
There was a first victory for Poole Town under the guidance of Matt Tubbs as they responded to Saturday’s defeat by beating high-flying Gosport Borough 2-0 and in doing so, inflict Borough’s first reverse of the season. Tobias Holmes and Tony-James Lee were the men on target.
The remainder of the night’s games finished with honours even as two last minute goals between Hendon and Bracknell Town gave a dramatic finish to their encounter, whilst Levi Irving also struck late on to salvage a point for Swindon Supermarine at home to Beaconsfield Town.
Beaconsfield raced into a three-goal lead after Elliott Buchanan opened the scoring on 21 minutes and then Leon Chambers-Parillon doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark. As they looked for their first win of the season, they were in dreamland when Asher Yearwood popped up to make it 3-0 five minutes from the interval.
Crucially, Marine, who are also winless so far this term, were handed a lifeline a couple of minutes later as Ryan Campbell was able to pull a goal back and then Ed Williams further reduced the arrears on 77 minutes before Irving snatched a point as it ended 3-3.
It was 1-1 at Hungerford Town as they fell behind to Dorchester Town thanks to Leighton Thomas’ strike just past the half-hour mark before Ramarni Medford-Smith equalised early in the second half and that’s how it remained.
