PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH & CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

Limited action this weekend

There was limited action in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South and Central this weekend due to the Isuzu FA Trophy.

In the Premier South, Paul Doswell made it two wins out of his opening two games in the Sholing hot-seat as Charlie Davis’ goal early in the second half gave them a 1-0 win at Didcot Town.

The day’s other game ended all square as Dorchester Town and Hayes & Yeading United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. William Spetch put the home side ahead on the stroke of half-time before Michael Fernandes levelled matters nine minutes into the second period.

Over in the Premier Central, a brace from Jamie McGrath (pictured) gave Needham Market a 2-0 away win at Royston Town to strengthen their position in second place.

At the bottom, Berkhamsted had to come from two goals behind for the second game in a row as Dan Jarvis and Kelvin Langmead put visitors’ Kettering Town 2-0 up in quick succession right on the stroke of half-time. Lewis Johnson reduced the arrears early in the second period and then Sami Bessadi equalised with eight minutes to go. More drama was to follow when Rhys Sharpe grabbed a stoppage time winner for Kettering whose climb up the table continues.

Goals either side of half-time, from Finley Wilkinson and Jack Snelus, helped Hitchin Town to a 2-1 triumph over AFC Sudbury, for whom Joe Neal notched a consolation effort.

The day’s other game saw Leamington and AFC Telford United play out a 1-1 draw. Byron Moore gave the Bucks an early lead which was later cancelled out by Callum Stewart for the home side.
