New leaders after the weekend action

There are new leaders of the Pitching In Southern League Division One South after a goal late in the first half from Harry Baker gave Wimborne Town a 1-0 victory over Yate Town.

This, combined with Willand Rovers’ 4-2 home reverse at the hands of fellow high-flyers, Bemerton Heath Hartlequins, saw the Dorset outfit climb into pole position.

A brace from Oliver Bray was not enough for Willand as Stuart Green cancelled out his opener in the first half before Muhammed Jatta, Patrick Creese and Eder Teixeira Batista saw the points head home with the visitors.

Bideford have moved into the top five following a 2-1 triumph at Evesham United. Mattie Buchan opened the scoring for the visitors on the quarter-hour mark before Amer Awadh levelled matters and that’s how it stayed until five minutes from time when Lewis Hill found the net with the winner.

It was an entertaining encounter at Melksham Town as they beat Mousehole 3-2 (pictured). The Cornishmen took a 20th minute lead through Jack Bray-Evans before Lerone Plummer equalised and then Ralph Graham turned the scoreline on its head as half-time approached. Parity was restored when Bray-Evans found the net for his second of the afternoon only for Albert Hopkins to win it a minute later.

The scoreline was the same at Exmouth Town where Bristol Manor Farm went home with a 3-2 success to leave their hosts at the foot of the table. Things started well for Town when Chukwuka Iscguan put them in front on ten minutes. Evander Grubb levelled on the half-hour before Jayden Nielsen put the visitors ahead. Iscguan notched his second to draw the sides level only for Grubb to find the net once more to secure the points for his team.

The day’s other game saw Bishops Cleeve and Malvern Town play out a goalless draw in what was a game of plenty of chances for both sides.

The wet weather saw Paulton Rovers’ home encounter with Bashley abandoned with the visitors leading 1-0.
