PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

Top two victorious

Pitching In Southern League Division One Central leaders, Bedford Town, picked up a 2-0 win at Stotfold as goals either side of half-time from Alex Collard and Albie Hall won the day.

Hot on their heels remain North Leigh who chalked up a commanding 3-0 triumph over Thame United thanks to first half goals from Owen James and Daniel West and a second half strike from Lance Williams.

In our Star Game, Waltham Abbey proved too strong for Ware as they ran out 4-1 victors with Kieron Cathline and Ben Baker notching first half goals before Baker notched his second and Sam Shaban weighed in with the fourth. Liam Dulson’s last minute effort proved to be mere consolation for the visitors.

There was late drama at AFC Dunstable as they lost 3-2 to Cirencester Town. Cameron Cook opened the scoring for the home side on 12 minutes but it wasn’t until the final 12 minutes where the scoring sparked to life as Harry Burns levelled and then put his side in front with five minutes to go. The hosts responded by equalising in the final minute through John Shamalo only for Jake Lee to put the away side back in front within seconds.

Welwyn Garden City had another good win as they came from behind to secure victory at Leighton Town by four goals to one. A brace from Cyrus Babaie-Gumbs was amongst their scorers, whilst Hertford Town also secured a 4-1 away win, this time at Kempston Rovers as Brian Garzon helped himself to two of the goals.

Hadley came from behind to beat a faltering Kings Langley 2-1. Rayan Clarke put the visitors ahead as Luke Alfano took the sides into the break level before an own goal from Jorell Johnson won it.

Moving up to seventh place is Biggleswade Town after they came home from Barton Rovers with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Luke Andrews, Jack Morrell and Jon Clements.

The day’s other game saw Aylesbury United and Kidlington share four goals in a 2-2 draw.
