PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH | REVIEW

Leaders made to work hard for win

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, leaders Salisbury had to come from two goals down to beat Hanwell Town 3-2 with the winner coming late on.

Two goals in quick succession from Dwayne Duncan and Sam Evans put the hosts in the driving seat just before the half-hour mark and it was a lead that they held until the final 25 minutes when Harry Williams, on his debut, reduced the arrears before Sido Jombati stayed cool to level from the spot and then Daniel Fitchett hit the winning goal with three minutes to go.

After a couple of losses, Chesham United made a welcome return to winning ways as a Ricardo German brace saw them to a 2-0 home victory over second-place Gosport Borough.

Another side who ended a run of defeats were Merthyr Town as they secured a 2-1 away triumph at Harrow Borough. Lewis Powell put the Welsh outfit ahead on the stroke of half-time before Ricardo Rees added a second on 65 minutes. A last gasp goal from Victor Osobu proved to be mere consolation for the hosts.

It was a good day for Tiverton as they won on the road for only the second time this term courtesy of a convincing 4-0 success at Sholing. Jack Rice-Lethaby opened the scoring on the quarter-mark and then after the break, Dylan Jones, River Allen and Niall Thompson hit three goals in just over ten minutes.

The games at Plymouth Parkway, Poole Town and Winchester City all fell victim of the wet weather.
