PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL | REVIEW

Stalemate in game of the day

The game of the day in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central between fourth-place AFC Telford United and third-place Hitchin Town ended goalless. It ended a run of three straight wins for the home side.

A goal on the stroke of half-time from Callum Stewart was enough to give Leamington a 1-0 away win at AFC Sudbury, whilst Halesowen Town finally got back into winning ways as they beat Berkhamsted 2-1 with Kieren Donnelly and Miracle Okafor putting them in control with two goals in quick succession midway through the first half. Matt Bateman hit a late goal for the visitors but it was too little, too late.

A last-gasp penalty from Thomas Cursons gave Barwell a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bromsgrove Sporting, who took an early lead through Conor Tee only for Brady Hickey to equalise.

Also earning three points were Stratford Town who edged past Royston Town by two goals to one. A goal just before the break from Callum Ebanks set them on their way but it took until the 70th minute for Charlie Williams to add a second. The visitors hit back straight away but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Stamford heaped more misery on bottom of the table Long Eaton United with a 3-1 win as Will Glennon set them on their way. Joseph Nyahwema levelled matters only for Jack Duffy and Lee Shaw to seal the victory for their side.
