PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL | WEEKEND REVIEW

Leaders remain unbeaten

In the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central, Bedford Town remain unbeaten after a goal in each half gave them a good 2-0 victory at Hertford Town.

Ryan Blake set them on their way as he opened the scoring as half-time approached before Carl Mensah notched an intelligent goal with just under 20 minutes remaining to secure the three points and make it 13 League outings without defeat.

North Leigh remain on their coat-tails as leading scorer, Lance Williams, popped up in the final seven minutes to decide their encounter with in-form Waltham Abbey, whilst Cirencester Town had a brace from Ben Whitehead to thank for their 3-1 win at Barton Rovers.

Whitehead opened the scoring on 12 minutes and then hit a second just a couple of minutes later. A frantic opening 20 minutes saw the home side pull one back through Taylor Rhiney but Aidan Bennett settled the nerves late on with a third goal to leave his side in amongst the leading pack.

A hat-trick within the opening half-an-hour from Amaru Kaunda set Biggleswade on their way to an entertaining 4-3 victory over Hadley, for whom Mamadou Diallo and Jordan Edwards also scored during this period. Alex Marsh added a fourth goal for the home side just past the hour-mark as Alvin Kyeremeh pulled another goal back late on.

Thame United moved off the bottom thanks to a 1-0 triumph over Bigglewade Town as Eitel Moumi Goueth hit the all-important goal.

Moving back to bottom spot is Kempston Rovers after they suffered a 3-0 home loss at the hands of Kings Langley, for whom Hugo Odogwu-Atkinson, Harrison Crawford and Rayan Clarke got the goals.

There was late drama for Aylesbury United in their away game at Ware as they came back from two goals down to prosper 3-2 with Tyriq Hunte and Jake Bewley scoring in the closing minutes.

Two goals from Bailey Stevenson helped Welwyn Garden City to a commanding 3-0 victory over Stotfold. Dernell Wynter notched the other goal as his side continue their climb up the table.

The day’s other game saw Alfie Powell score late on to give Leighton Town a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Kidlington.
