PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE | TUESDAY REVIEW

The action from Tuesday's matches

The Tuesday evening action in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South saw Winchester City emerge as the big winners as they hit five past Bracknell Town without reply.

It wasn’t until right on the stroke of half-time that the deadlock was finally broken by Trevor Caborn before the floodgates opened in the second half with Max Smith, Thomas Wright, Oliver Balmer and Devon Arnold all finding the net.

Chesham United had to be patient to finally overcome the challenge of Tiverton Town as Steve Brown opened the scoring just before the hour-mark and then Ricardo German made the points safe late on.

It was honours even at Basingstoke Town as they played out a 2-2 draw with Hungerford Town, who took a 21st minute lead through Sam De St Croix. Brad Wilson levelled matters after the break and his goal was quickly followed by another from Michael Atkinson before Conor McDonagh equalised late on.

There were three postponements and one game abandoned as floodlight failure brought a halt to Sholing’s home game against Walton & Hersham.

Two games took place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central where Coalville Town secured a 4-1 away win at Alvechurch.

Kieran Cook opened the scoring for the visitors against one of his former clubs and then Thomas McGlinchey doubled the advantage just before the break. Michael Taylor reduced the arrears for the hosts but Tim Berridge fired home with just over ten minutes to go and Terell Pennant added a fourth at the death.

The hard-earned 2-1 victory for Needham Market over Leamington took them to the top of the table.

The deadlock was broken as Luke Ingram put the Marketmen ahead but it was cancelled out within five minutes by Theo Streete. What proved to be the deciding goal came on 27 minutes from Tevan Allen.

The only scheduled game in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South fell victim of the wet weather as Mousehole’s home encounter with the in-form Bideford was postponed.

A brace from Jayden Carbon gave Thame United a much-needed three points as they beat Stotfold 2-1 in the only game in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central. James Peters hit the visitors’ goal.
