PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL | REVIEW

Second win of the season for Long Eaton United

There were a number of postponements in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, including leaders Needham Market, so with second-placed Micklover on Isuzu FA Trophy duty, it gave Leamington the chance to close the gap.

All was going to plan for The Brakes when the experienced Tyrone Barnett put them ahead at home to Barwell just before half-time. However, the visitors hit back with Beck-Ray Enoru earning a share of the spoils with a second half leveller.

It was a good day for bottom of the table Long Eaton United who won for only the second time this season as James Spruce’s early strike proved to be the difference against Berkhamsted, who now sit three points ahead of their hosts.

Our Star Game went the way of AFC Telford United as goals in either half from Montel Gibson and Jordan Piggott saw them beat in-form St. Ives Town, for whom Jonnie Edwards pulled a goal back just past the hour but they were unable to add to it.

Three second half goals gave Stamford a good 3-0 triumph over Halesowen Town. Tendai Chitiza bagged a brace with a goal from James Blunden sandwiched in between to put their side just outside the play-off places.

The day’s other game saw AFC Sudbury and Stratford Town play out a goalless draw.
