PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH | WEEKEND REVIEW

Top two play out entertaining draw

The top of the table clash in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South ended with honours even in an entertaining 2-2 draw as leaders, Wimborne Town, twice came from behind at Frome Town.

A goal just past the half-hour mark from Jonathan Davies was soon cancelled out by Harry Morgan before skipper, Sam Teale, stepped up to put the hosts in front at the break. The visitors hit back through Matt Neale.

There was derby day joy for Cribbs as they beat Yate Town 2-1 to maintain their place amongst the leading pack. David Duru added to his growing reputation with the opener before Bailey Croome doubled their advantage early in the second period. The visitors hit back late on through Callum Hutton but it proved to be too little, too late for them.

The solid start to the season continued for Bideford as they beat Larkhall Athletic 2-1. Aaron Taylor set them on their way and although Alex Lambert levelled on the half-hour, Ryan Turner popped up ten minutes into the second period to secure all three points (pictured).

Three goals in the final eight minutes gave Mousehole a much-needed return to winning ways as they beat Bemerton Heath Harlequins 3-1. It was the visitors who went ahead during the first half through George Britton, only for Hayden Turner, new boy, Evander Grubb, and Tim Nixon to strike and secure the points.

Another side who were able to end a poor run with victory were Bashley who came home from Tavistock triumphant following a 3-2 win. The experienced Brett Williams set them on their way early on and added a second early in the second half before Conor Whiteley looked to have sealed the game. However, the hosts grabbed two late goals from Alex Battle and Ed Harrison to set up a tense finale.

Exmouth Town went ahead at Paulton Rovers through Thomas Bath but Daniel Restorick broke their hearts as firstly he equalised on the half-hour and then grabbed a last-gasp winner.

The day’s other game ended with honours even as Melksham Town and Bristol Manor Farm played out a 2-2 draw. Ralph Graham wasted little time in putting the home side in front as George Kellow equalised at the end of the first half. Jayden Nielsen then put Manor Farm ahead only for Marcel Lewis to earn a point as he scored on his return to the club.
