PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH | BOXING DAY REVIEW

Cribbs level on points with the leaders

The Boxing Day action in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South saw Cribbs leave it late to grab a point at Bishops Cleeve in a 2-2 draw.

It means they are level on points with Wimborne Town who were without a game. Ethan Dunbar put Bishops Cleeve ahead on the half-hour mark as David Duru cancelled it out just before the hour. A Toby Holland goal put the hosts back in front only for Harris Feltham to equalise two minutes into stoppage time at the end.

Bideford are right behind the top two as they won again, this time 2-1 at Devon rivals, Tavistock, as Mattie Buchan bagged a brace, with his first coming within the opening couple of minutes. Liam Prynn’s effort for the hosts was too little, too late.

There was a hard-fought 3-2 away win for Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Bashley. Domenico Panesar-Dower set the visitors on their way only for a quickfire brace from Conor Whiteley to turn the scoreline around.

Daniel Young levelled matters before half-time and then Stuart Green went on to grab what proved to be the winner.

Also sat in amongst the top five are Frome Town but they had to settle for a point from a 2-2 home draw with Melksham Town in what was a feisty encounter which featured two red cards per team and numerous bookings.

Evesham United responded to defeat in their previous game by winning 3-2 at Malvern Town. They put themselves firmly in the driving seat thanks to a brace from Levi Steele midway through the first half. Jack Watts reduced the arrears at the start of the second half and then levelled from the penalty spot shortly after the visitors had missed a spot-kick of their own. Substitute Charlie Wise grabbed the winner with virtually the last touch deep into stoppage time.

Three second half strikes gave Bristol Manor Farm a convincing 3-0 victory over Willand Rovers. Daniel Dodimead scored twice and Owen Brain notched the other.

A David O’Hare goal early in the second period was enough to give Paulton Rovers a much-needed victory over Yate Town.

The remaining games ended all square. Exmouth Town let a two-goal half-time lead slip to draw 2-2 with Mousehole. Chukwuka Iscguan struck early for the Devon club before Ethan Slater doubled the advantage on half-time. Second half strikes from Maxwell Hill and Hayden Turner saw it finish with honours even.

At Westbury United, Harvey Flippance opened the scoring after three minutes against Larkhall Athletic, for whom Dawid Regula equalised with just under 20 minutes left on the clock.
