The top two both won in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central.
North Leigh won 2-1 at Leighton Town thanks to goals from Gregory Hackett and Daniel West, as Alfie Powell got his name on the scoresheet for the hosts.
There was also victory for Bedford Town as three first half goals in a six-minute spell from Shane Bush, Lynton Goss and Leon Lobjoit put them firmly in the driving seat at Kings Langley, for whom Louie Collier reduced the arrears early in the second half.
A brace from Jonathan Lacey gave Biggleswade Town the bragging rights in their local derby at Biggleswade FC as they remain in third position. Charlie Hayford had cancelled out Lacey’s first half opener but the winning goal came with around ten minutes to go.
A winner deep into stoppage time gave Hadley a dramatic 4-3 victory over Waltham Abbey. The drama started from the very first minute when Aaron Eyoma gave the visitors the lead. Isaac Stones soon levelled as Luke Alfano and Jay Rolfe proceeded to put them 3-1 up by the break. Jason Hallett reduced the arrears and then looked like salvaging a point with a leveller in the final minute, however, Jordan Edwards was the hero with the match-clinching goal at the death.
It was a similar story for Thame United who scored a 95th minute winner in a 4-3 success at Welwyn Garden City. Cyrus Babaie-Gumbs put the home side ahead but it was cancelled out by the veteran Jefferson Louis, who returned to the club during the week. After the break, Babaie-Gumbs notched his second as Harry Alexander restored parity. Ryan Knight then put the visitors in front but it soon became 3-3 through Brad Wadkins before Louis had the final say to give his latest side three precious points.
Bottom of the table, Kempston Rovers also won by scoring four goals. It was only their third success of the season as Ware were beaten 4-2 as they came back from two goals down at the interval after Joe Dearman and Ekow Coker had found the net. Second half strikes from Joshua Adepoju, Arel Amu, Lauric Diakiesse and Albert Wood made it a day to remember for Rovers.
There were impressive wins for Aylesbury United and Kidlington. Second half goals from Ben Peters and Jack Wood saw Aylesbury come from behind to beat AFC Dunstable, for whom Ethan Holt scored just before the half-hour mark.
A Ben Richards goal early in the second period was enough to see Kidlington pick up three good points at fifth-place Cirencester Town.
The day’s other game saw Matthew Ball’s goal give Stotfold a 1-0 victory over Barton Rovers.
