It was a night when the clubs that were in action paid their respects to Anthony Hughes following his untimely passing.
In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, there was late drama as bottom of the table Didcot Town snatched a stoppage time winner at Winchester City to pull themselves closer to the teams above them.
It was the home side who went in front early in the second period when Trevor Caborn found the net. The leveller arrived with quarter-of-an-hour to go from Luke Carnell before Harvey Fox snuck in to steal the points in the 94th minute.
Another side benefitting from a late winner was Poole Town as Tony-James Lee got the only goal of the game against Swindon Supermarine, with his effort coming in the final minute (pictured).
There was a good away victory for Plymouth Parkway in the evening’s other game as they secured a 2-0 triumph at Hayes & Yeading United. Rising star, Dylan Jones, put them in front early on before Shane White doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark.
Over in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, another stoppage time strike, this time from Stourbridge’s Alex Jones on his debut gave the Glassboys a hard-earned 1-0 success over an Alvechurch outfit that were reduced to ten men in the second period following the dismissal of defender, Yaw Nantwi-Ofosu.
The evening’s only other game in this division finished all square as AFC Telford United were held at home by Coalville Town in a 1-1 draw. Recent arrival, Matt Stenson put the home side ahead early on, only for Terell Pennant to level matters with 15 minutes left on the clock.
The only game scheduled in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South fell victim of the weather as Tavistock’s home clash with Malvern Town was postponed on Tuesday morning.
Two games survived the wind and rain in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central as Biggleswade FC won 2-1 at Kings Langley. Goals from Daniel Bond and Michael Simpson within the opening 17 minutes put the visitors in command and although an own goal from Adam Wedd gave the hosts hope, they were unable to find a way back into the game.
It ended goalless at Aylesbury United, who announced the departure of manager, Jack Wells, ahead of the game as bottom of the table Kempston Rovers secured a point and a clean sheet.
