The wet weather is sure to play its part in this weekend’s action, but here is our pick of the games.
HUNGERFORD TOWN v WALTON & HERSHAM | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH
This is a battle between two teams on the fringes of the top five who are looking to make their move into the play-off places. The home side will be looking to bounce back from late defeat at Hayes & Yeading United in their last game as they look to find some consistency once more, whilst the visitors got back into winning ways in their last outing following two straight defeats as they secured a goal 1-0 triumph at Sholing on Tuesday evening.
LEAMINGTON v ROYSTON TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL
A good test awaits Leamington as they look to strengthen their place within the leading pack. The Brakes are on a seven-game unbeaten League run and whilst they have drawn too many games, they go into this game on the back of a commanding 3-0 away win at Bromsgrove Sporting in their last outing. For Royston, it’s just one defeat from nine League games, a run that saw them win the Club of the Month award for January 2024. They came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with AFC Telford United on Tuesday.
EVESHAM UNITED v YATE TOWN | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
The race for the play-off places is getting interesting as Evesham United look to build upon a six-game unbeaten run that was extended with a 1-1 draw at Bashley last weekend, a result which keeps them in fifth place. They face an upwardly-mobile Yate outfit who are now just one place and one point below them following an impressive run of six straight wins which came to an end on Tuesday when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Willand Rovers.
WARE v WALTHAM ABBEY | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
Sitting just outside the play-off places, Ware will see this as an opportunity to make up ground on one of the teams that sit above them within the leading pack. After two straight wins, the home side lost in their last outing at Barton Rovers and now face opponents who have won their last two games in a row following a period of indifferent form that threatened to derail their quest to finish within the top five. It’s an important game for both clubs.
