PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH | WEEKEND REVIEW

Plenty of great action

Pitching In Southern League Premier South leaders, Chesham United, swept to a commanding 4-0 victory over Swindon Supermarine.

There were some impressive strikes amongst their goals as Jordan Edwards set them on their way in the first half before Ogochukwu Obi doubled the advantage just past the hour-mark. Edwards weighed in with another late on before Ryan Upward rounded off a positive display.

A goal in each half from Aaron Simpson and Ryan Penny gave Salisbury a 2-0 triumph over Poole Town, whilst third-placed Gosport Borough had their game at Dorchester Town sewn up with three goals within the opening half-an-hour from Dan Wooden, Harry Kavanagh and Gerson Da Costa Ramos.

Merthyr Town suffered a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Bracknell Town, who went ahead through Max Herbert on the quarter-hour mark before Thomas Handley levelled matters. Ashley Lodge put the visitors back in front and then Joseph Grant added a third on 85 minutes which clinched the victory, even though Ricardo Rees did pull a goal back in the final minute.

The winning run of Hayes & Yeading United extended to four League games following their 3-2 away win at Beaconsfield Town. Ayo Faniyan was on the scoresheet again as he opened the scoring for the visitors but the lead lasted only two minutes before Adanioritsewo Okorogheye equalised and then he notched his second to give his side the lead early in the second period.

But Hayes & Yeading are made of stern stuff these days and Marvel Ekpiteta was able to restore parity before Louis Dunne grabbed what proved to been the winner shortly afterwards.

Also winning away were Walton & Hersham who chalked up another hard-earned 1-0 away success, this time at Hungerford Town as Nana Owusu hit a late winner.

There was an entertaining 3-3 draw between Harrow Borough and Didcot Town. Reece Mitchell put the hosts a goal up early on and then Reece Cameron put them in the driving seat with a second on 25 minutes. The visitors were able to hit back straight away through Robbie Gallagher and then a Luke Carnell double turned the scoreline on its head before the break. Reece Yorke hit the equaliser with 20 minutes to go as both sides remain rooted in the bottom two.

The games at AFC Totton, Hanwell Town and Tiverton Town were postponed.
