PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH | WEEKEND REVIEW

All the latest action

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Chesham United were able to extend their lead at the top to nine points after they battled out a 1-0 win at Sholing thanks to Jordan Edwards’ goal early in the second half.

This result, combined with Salisbury’s draw at Gosport Borough, made it a good day for The Generals.

Our Star Game certainly lived up to its billing as visitors Salisbury took the lead in the final minute through Josh Hedges only for the home side to hit back in stoppage time through Bradley Tarbuck as it ended with honours even.

There was a hard-earned 1-0 away triumph for AFC Totton as Leon Maloney’s goal with just over 20 minutes to go was enough to give them maximum points at Hayes & Yeading United, who slipped to their second home reverse of the week.

Also winning away from home was Harrow Borough as they chalked up a 3-1 success at Swindon Supermarine. Reece Yorke set them on their way early on only for Harry Williams to level just before the break. There was still time for Reece Mitchell to restore their lead in first half stoppage time before James Gurteen added a third early in the second period.

It was a good day for the away sides as Dorchester Town came home from Bracknell Town with a 3-1 triumph. They made an explosive start with two goals in the opening five minutes from Oliver Haste and Shaquille Gwengwe. The early action of the second half saw Jack Dickson weigh in with a third before Joseph Grant grabbed a consolation goal right at the death.

A goal five minutes from time by James Dobson gave Beaconsfield Town victory at Didcot Town, whilst Will Upton’s first half strike gave Basingstoke Town success at Poole Town.

Second half goals from Joe Hicks and Nana Owusu earned Walton & Hersham a 2-0 victory over Tiverton Town, a result which keeps the host just outside the play-off places.

The remaining games ended all square as Hendon played out a 2-2 draw with Hungerford Town, for whom Ramarni Medford-Smith opened the scoring. The home side levelled right on half-time through Kurtis Cumberbatch before Daniel Matsuzaka turned the scoreline on its head with just under 20 minutes to go. However, Elis Watts equalised with ten minutes left on the clock.

It was 1-1 at Winchester City as Simbarashe Mlambo cancelled out Isaac Olorunfemi’s first half opener for Hanwell Town.

The game between Plymouth Parkway and Merthyr Town was postponed.
