In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Chesham United march on after they beat Poole Town 3-1 in a game which saw all four goals come in a frantic final quarter-of-an-hour.
A goal from Ricardo German set them on their way only for Josh Staunton to level with ten minutes to go. German added a second with four minutes to go before Jordan Edwards sealed the points in stoppage time.
Second-place Salisbury were held to a 2-2 home draw by Didcot Town. It was the visitors who took an early lead through Sam Barder before Charlie Gunson restored parity just before the half-hour mark. James Harding looked to have nicked a vital win for the hosts three minutes into stoppage time, only for Adam Learoyd to grab a dramatic equaliser in the 97th minute.
Another team from the leading pack who were held to a home draw was Merthyr Town who fell behind early on to Hayes & Yeading United as Nicholas Rhodes put through his own net. The equaliser eventually arrived early in the second period through Callum Ryan-Phillips.
There are now three teams on 49 points on the edge of the play-off zone. AFC Totton currently hold the final play-off place; their game against Bracknell Town was postponed, but Hungerford Town are now level on points with them after running out 2-1 winners over Sholing. Adulai Sambú and Conor McDonagh put them in command within the opening half-an-hour and whilst Dan Mason pulled a goal back it proved to be too little, too late.
Walton & Hersham missed their chance to break back into the play-off zone after they lost 2-1 at Beaconsfield Town where Luke Neville bagged a brace. Johl Powell’s goal proved to be a mere consolation for the visitors.
Winning away from home were Swindon Supermarine and Winchester City. First half strikes from Harry Williams and Jake Andrews saw Swindon Supemarine get back into winning ways, whilst Oliver Balmer was the hero with both of Winchester City’s goals in their 2-1 triumph at Harrow Borough, for whom James Gurteen notched the consolation goal.
A late goal from Brad Wilson gave Basingstoke Town victory over Plymouth Parkway, whilst the day’s other game ended even as Will Fletcher’s stoppage time strike made it 2-2 between Dorchester Town and Hendon. Olaf Koszela had given the home side a half-time lead before a Kurtis Cumberbatch brace turned the scoreline on its head.
Tiverton Town’s home clash with Gosport Borough fell victim of the wet weather.
