In the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central it’s hats off to Bromsgrove Sporting who inflicted leaders, Needham Market’s fourth defeat of the season with a resounding 3-0 triumph.
A quickfire double on the stroke of half-time from Aaron Roberts and Finn Howell did the damage before Luke Rowe wrapped things up late on.
With AFC Telford United held to a 1-1 draw at Hitchin Town, where Finley Wilkinson put the home side ahead early on before Orrin Pendley levelled midway through the first half, the day belonged to Leamington as the only team in the top five to win.
The Brakes heaped more misery on a faltering Redditch United with a convincing 3-0 win at the Valley Stadium. Callum Stewart gave them a lead to take into the interval before Rob Evans doubled their advantage on the hour and Dan Meredith wrapped things up at the death.
Stratford Town had to work hard to get a 3-2 victory over a Long Eaton United outfit who have showed plenty of fight in recent weeks. Paul McCone gave the home side the lead on 12 minutes and then Callum Ebanks added another early in the second period. This sparked the visitors to life as Owen Betts and Andrew Wright got them back on level terms. An 87th minute winner from recent arrival, Andre Landell, earned all three points for the Bards.
Another new signing on the scoresheet was Leroy Lita at Barwell as he opened the scoring in their 2-1 triumph over Royston Town. Alfie Williams restored parity just past the hour before Josh Flanagan won it for the hosts late on.
A brace from Kieren Donnelly earned Halesowen Town a 2-1 victory over Coalville Town, for whom Eliot Putman grabbed a late consolation.
Also hitting a match-winning brace was Addillanie Yussuf whose goals gave Kettering Town another precious three points in their 2-0 success against Alvechurch.
There was a commanding 3-0 win for Stamford to keep their play-off hopes alive as they swept aside the challenge of Leiston thanks to goals from Harry Vince, Rhys Hilton and Tom Siddons. Meanwhile St. Ives Town had a goal from Jonny Edwards to thank for their single-goal success against Berkhamsted.
The day’s other game saw Luke Benbow hit a stoppage time leveller for Stourbridge in their home encounter with AFC Sudbury, who took the lead early in the second period through Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade. It was to prove to be the last game at the helm for Glassboys’ manager, Leon Broadhurst, as he was relieved of his duties on Saturday evening.
