PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH | MONDAY REVIEW

All the latest action as Champions are crowned

The Bank Holiday Monday action in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South saw Chesham United clinch the title following a 4-1 away win at Harrow Borough.

It was the home side who drew first blood as they took an early lead through Ronny Mfinda but a brace from Kieran Murphy turned the scoreline on its head before the break. Ricardo German added a third late on before Callum Adebiyi wrapped things up in the final minute.

Two late goals saw Gosport Borough come from behind to beat Winchester City. A goal from Thomas Wright early in the second half put the visitors ahead until Alfie Stanley levelled matters on 82 minutes and Brad Tarbuck hit the winner a couple of minutes later.

Each of the top three came from behind to win as Salibury recovered from falling behind at the hands of Basingstoke Town to win 2-1. It was Stefan Brown who put the visitors ahead just past the quarter-hour mark before Noah Coppin levelled on the stroke of half-time. Coppin then went on to grab a late winner.

There was a commanding 3-0 victory for AFC Totton over fellow play-off hopefuls, Walton & Hersham. Scott Rendell set them on their way with ten minutes on the clock and Tony-James Lee doubled the advantage on the hour-mark. The scoring was complete late on through Ethan Taylor, in front of a crowd of 1,342.

Enjoying a 3-0 triumph of their own to move back into the play-off zone were Merthyr Town as they overcame the challenge of Hungerford Town. Lewys Twamley and Ricardo Rees saw the Welsh outfit take a two-goal lead into the break as Gethyn Hill made the game safe with quarter-of-an-hour to go.

Just outside the play-off places are Bracknell Town, who enjoyed a resounding 5-1 victory over Sholing. Ashley Lodge gave them a first half lead before four goals in a 15-minute spell at the start of the second period from Joseph Grant, Haydon Vaughan, Michael Dada and Great Evans saw them home and dry. A late Daniel Mason effort proved mere consolation for the visitors.

In the lower reaches of the table, already-relegated Didcot Town lost at home to Swindon Supermarine as late goals from Matthew Bower and Henry Spalding secured a 2-0 win. Hayes & Yeading United were held to a goalless home draw by Hendon, a far cry from their nine-goal thriller in their previous game.

A Dylan Jones goal was enough to give Plymouth Parkway victory over Poole Town as the day’s other game saw Dorchester Town grab a last-gasp goal to beat Tiverton Town 2-1. Olaf Koszela gave the hosts a first half lead, which was cancelled out by Joe Parker on 73 minutes. Will Fletcher got the winner for the home side.
