PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH | MONDAY REVIEW

The Bank Holiday Monday action

The Bank Holiday Monday action in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South saw Frome Town move back to the top of the table following a 2-1 victory at Melksham Town.

Goals from Zach Drew and Kane Simpson within the opening ten minutes put them firmly in the driving seat and it was enough to give them the points despite Sam Hendy pulling a goal back 12 minutes from time.

Third-place Cribbs suffered a heavy home reverse at the hands of in-form Bishops Cleeves, whose 4-0 triumph moved them into the play-off places. Ross Langworthy put them ahead just before the break and then Jay Malshanskyj made it two early in the second period. Another from Langworthy made the game safe before Karnell Chambers completed the scoring.

A late goal saw Bristol Manor Farm come from behind to win 2-1 at Willand Rovers. Owen Howe put the hosts ahead on three minutes but the in-form visitors hit back early in the second half through Daniel Dodimead before Jayden Nielsen popped up to notch the winner in the final minute.

Sitting just outside the play-off zone are Yate Town who recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over Paulton Rovers with Nick McCootie bagging a brace after an own goal from Neil Martin had opened the scoring.

There were good away wins for Bashley, Tavistock and Malvern Town. First half goals from Noa Prestel, Charlie Woodring and Jamie Johnston put Bashley into a strong position at Bemerton Heath Harlequins. Ed Hodge added a fourth goal before late strikes from George Higgins and Karol Skoczen reduce the arrears for the home side.

Meanwhile Joe O’Loughlin, Liam Prynn and Teigan Rosenquest gave Tavistock a three-goal advantage over their Devon rivals, Bideford, who hit back through Stu Bowker and Archie Reay but they ultimately gave themselves too much to do.

In the Worcestershire derby, Jordan Annear and Harry Clark hit first half goals to give Malvern Town a good away triumph at Evesham United whose recent form has seen their play-off hopes hit.

Two games fell victim of the wet weather as in-form Larkhall Athletic’s home encounter with struggling Westbury United was postponed, as was Mousehole’s clash with Exmouth Town.
