PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL | MONDAY REVIEW

All the action

The Bank Holiday Monday action in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central saw the top of the table clash end in an away victory for Bedford Town at Biggleswade Town.

The game was decided by Leon Lobjoit’s goal as half-time approached. It means that Bedford go top and the home side slip to third place with AFC Dunstable moving to second after they came from behind to dramatically beat Kempston Rovers. Joshua Adepoju gave the visitors the lead before Rocky Tamplin levelled matters ten minutes into the second half. Ethan Holt then won it in the final minute.

Both Ware and Waltham Abbey had convincing successes. Ware beat Kings Langley 3-0 with Theophilus Ofori scoring twice in between Jon Clements’ goal in first half stoppage time. Meanwhile Waltham Abbey hit five against Hertford Town with Aaron Eyoma and Jesse Akubuine setting them on their way before Jason Hallett weighed in with a hat-trick. A late Deimar Cardoso Queni effort proved to be mere consolation for the visitors.

Another hat-trick hero was Isaac Stones as his treble saw Hadley beat Welwyn Garden City 3-2. Cyrus Babaie-Gumbs and Lynton Goss were on target for the visitors.

The battle at the bottom is just as intriguing as it is at the top. Kidlington recovered from going a goal down early on to beat North Leigh 4-2. Connor Barrett opened the scoring for the visitors only for Jack Gardner to restore parity. Barrett struck again to send his side in at the break ahead, but once more, Gardner cancelled it out. The final few minutes saw Charles Bacon bring home the win with Ben Richards rounding things off.

Thame United also came from behind to win. Brayden Daniel gave hosts Aylesbury United the lead before Mark Riddick equalised. The winner came from Harry Alexander with just over ten minutes to go.

A goal in each half from Matthew Moloney and Taylor Rhiney gave Barton Rovers a 2-0 triumph over Leighton Town, whilst the day’s other game saw Daniel Bond and a brace from George Wheeler-Bailey give Biggleswade FC a 3-1 success against Stotfold, for whom Matthew Ball found the net.
