PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE | WEEKEND PREVIEW

Our pick of the action

With games running out, things are being decided across all four of our divisions. Here’s our pick of the latest action.

HUNGERFORD TOWN v AFC TOTTON | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER SOUTH
The battle is on for second place and AFC Totton have it in their sights as they enjoy an excellent run of form that has yielded five wins from their last six games, with Tony Lee in irresistible form in front of goal having bagging eight goals during this run. They face hosts who have lost their last two games in a row to leave their play-off hopes hanging by a thread and as such, nothing short of a win will be good enough here.

LEAMINGTON v STAMFORD | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE PREMIER CENTRAL
The race to grab the two remaining play-off places is hotting up with both of these teams still in contention. The hosts go into the game just inside the top five and the visitors four points outside but with a game in hand on the teams above them. Leamington are without a win in their last two games, whilst Stamford have won their last three in a row, including a 3-0 away win at Champions, Needham Market, in their last outing.

FROME TOWN v BISHOPS CLEEVE | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH
This Friday night encounter pits the current League leaders against opponents who need to win to maintain their play-off challenge. It’s tight at the top with Frome level on points with rivals, Wimborne Town, but having played a game more and their five-game winning streak was ended by a goalless draw at Exmouth Town in their last outing. Bishop's Cleeve meanwhile saw their four-game unbeaten run end with a home defeat at the hands of Bideford in their last outing.

BIGGLESWADE TOWN v THAME UNITED | PITCHING IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
This game impacts both ends of the table with the hosts looking to further extend their lead at the top now that they have secured at least a play-off position. Meanwhile the visitors are in the relegation zone on goal difference as they battle hard to avoid the drop. Biggleswade Town have enjoyed two away wins this week, including a good 3-0 triumph at in-form Welwyn Garden City on Thursday, whilst for Thame United, it’s three games unbeaten now after a commanding victory over North Leigh on Tuesday evening.
