Life President honoured by The FA

Swindon Supermarine Life President, Steve Moore, has been given an FA Long Service Award for his services to football in Wiltshire.

Having spent many years associated with Walcot Boys Club and also on the Management Committee of the Wiltshire County League, it was in 1988 that he answered a call for volunteers at Supermarine FC.

Calling time on his own playing career in order to manage one of the two Supermarine teams, he went on to play an integral role in the 1992 amalgamation of Supermarine FC and Swindon Athletic, which set the scene for the club we know today.

He went on to serve as Chairman of Swindon Supermarine for 15 years, leading many projects alongside the likes of Keith Yeomans and Alan Fletcher to ensure that the club was able to progress and reach ever further into the local community.

His devotion to the cause also saw him spend countless hours looking after the pitch, painting walls and fences, unblocking drains and various tasks to contribute to the upkeep of the club.

When current Chairman, Jez Webb, was appointed, Steve was invited to become Life President and now in his 36th year with the club, he still provides daily support to help drive forward the ambitions of the club.

He received his award ahead of the recent pre-season friendly against Swindon Town and everyone at the Southern League would like to congratulate Steve on his long-service and hope for many more. People like him are worth their weight in gold and we are always looking to showcase such achievements and sterling service.
