REVIEW | TUESDAY ACTION

A round-up of the Premier South and Central action

There was Tuesday evening action in both the Pitching In Southern League South and Central.

Two goals in each half gave AFC Totton a commanding 4-0 victory over Wimborne Town as Tony Lee bagged a brace, with Charlie Austin and Thomas Blair netting the others.

Also amongst the goals were Merthyr Town who scored five at Swindon Supermarine with Lewys Twamley the hero with a hat-trick and Callum Ryan-Phillips and Cole Jarvis also on the scoresheet. Gabriel Reivers grabbed a consolation goal for the hosts.

Walton & Hersham were held to a 2-2 home draw by Hanwell Town. Dawid Rogalski’s opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Jordan Edwards within five minutes. The second half started with Lucas Defise regaining the lead for the home side only for Mathew MacKenzie to restore parity just past the hour-mark and that’s how it remained.

This was one of three 2-2 draws as Marlow and Bracknell Town played out the same scorline with the hosts grabbing two goals in the final minutes through Seb D’Aversa and Benjamin Mulley to cancel out Ethan Burden’s opener and Remy Coddington’s strike in first half stoppage time.

Plymouth Parkway also came from two goals down to share the spoils with Taunton Town who put themselves in command with goals in quick succession from Aysa Corrick and Jayden Nielson before the 20-minute mark. Ryan Brett reduced the arrears before the break and then Michael Williams levelled with 20 minutes left on the clock.

There was a first win of the season for Tiverton Town as they won 2-1 at Frome Town. Dylan Jones and Matt Britton put them in the driving seat before Marcus Day pulled one back right at the death but it proved to be too little, too late.

Also winning 2-1 was Gloucester City as they beat Hungerford Town. An early goal from Ben Richards-Everton set them on their way before Elis Watts equalised just after the hour. The winner came from Brandon Smalley.

Over in the Premier Central, Stourbridge fell to a 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Stratford Town, who had a brace from Callum Ebanks to thank for the victory.

There was late drama at AFC Telford United as they hit a winner six minutes into stoppage time to beat Bromsgrove Sporting 2-1. It was the visitors who went in front through Harry Crook and it was cancelled out right on half-time by James Armson. It was Rhys Hilton who popped up with the all-important goal at the death.

A goal nine minutes from time by Ryan Boothe gave Halesowen Town a good 1-0 success at Banbury United, whilst Stamford were back in winning ways against Barwell as first half goals from Jack Duffy, who scored twice, and Tobias Liversidge put them in command before Leroy Lita hit a consolation early in the second period.

Two teams had hard-earned 3-2 victories. Leiston recovered from conceding within the opening three minutes to Josh Allen of AFC Sudbury as they turned the scoreline on its head with two goals in a minute from Jamar Loza and Ben Fowkes just before the quarter-hour mark. George Quantrell hit a third for the hosts before Tom Dickens pulled another back on 76 minutes.

Also winning 3-2 were Lowestoft Town who overcame the challenge of Royston Town, who went into a two-goal lead thanks to a brace from Luke Johnson. Harvey Sayer pulled one back in first half stoppage time and it inspired the home side to go on and win it as Flynn Clarke levelled ten minutes in the second period and Sam Johnson hit the winner.

Harborough Town had a much-needed 2-0 win as goals from Josh Walsh and Tensai Daire saw them home, whilst Bishop’s Stortford won for the second game in a row as they heaped more misery on winless Hitchin Town with a 2-1 triumph. Brad Russell hit the opener on eight minutes and Ryan Charles soon doubled the advantage. George Morrall pulled one back midway through the opening period and that’s how the scoreline remained.

Elsewhere, Biggleswade Town and Bedford Town shared the spoils from a 1-1 draw as Leon Lobjolt’s opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Ryan Doherty four minutes later.

Monday's action saw Dylan Allen-Hadley's early goal prove to be the winner for Alvechurch at Worcestershire rivals, Redditch United, whilst late goals from Kai Fifield and Lewis White gave Kettering Town a 2-1 away win at St. Ives Town, who went ahead through Gregory Kaziboni as half-time approached.
