KINGS LANGLEY | PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED WITH MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY

Raising awareness of worthy cause

Pitching In Southern League Division One Central out, Kings Langley, have recently launched a partnership with local charity, Hector’s House.

Based in Berkhamsted, Hector’s House was created in memory of Hector Stringer, who took his life at the age of 18. The charity, set up by Hector’s parents Robert and Belinda, aims to prevent suicide and mental health stigma through education, awareness and support.

In the week building up to their recent home game against Thame United, the Hertfordshire club emphasised the new partnership by turning their social media green to help raise awareness of the charity. Meanwhile, ahead of the game, the team warmed up in bright green Hector’s House t-shirts, and a minute’s silence was observed before kick-off for people who have suffered and who are still suffering from mental health issues.

The match may have ended in a 2-0 defeat for Kings Langley, but the bigger picture was that the fixture did its job in raising awareness and providing support for that the need it.

“It truly is a privilege to work with Hector's House,” said Club Chairman, Darren Elliot. “This partnership has the potential to reach so many people across the whole club, from our youngest players right the way through to our supporters and it’s such an important message.”

The club’s Head of Community Engagement, Dean Wigzell, added: “Robert [Stringer, Hector’s House CEO] and his family are an inspiration and within minutes of meeting them you can't help but be motivated to get on board and help them in sharing their message and that's exactly what we as a club will do.”

Staff and volunteers from Hector’s House attended the match, and they were blown away by the support the club demonstrated.

Robert Stringer, Founder and Chair, said: ‘We are honoured to partner with Kings Langley FC and to be invited to their match celebrating the start of our collaboration. It was inspiring to see the charity’s colours displayed around the stadium, spreading the message that we are here for anyone in the community facing mental health challenges. We are deeply grateful to everyone at the club for this opportunity to raise awareness and make a difference.”

Volunteer, Grant Coren, also commented: “Arriving early to see the first team all warming up in their Hector’s House t-shirts was truly inspiring. We were made to feel incredibly welcome by everybody and enjoyed the club’s warm hospitality and the wonderful spirit and enthusiasm around the ground.

“The more we engaged and reflected, the prouder we became to have this incredible opportunity for Hector’s House to partner with Kings Langley FC and to support, educate and engage with all your fans, players, and everyone associated with the club as much as possible. A partnership of true value and limitless potential.'

This season marks the start of this partnership with the fantastic Hector’s House, as both parties look forward to a successful and bright future. For further information about the charity, Click here…
