TUESDAY REVIEW | LATEST ACTION

A busy night of action in the Premier South and Central

There was action across three of our divisions on Tuesday evening with plenty going on.

In the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, Gloucester City remain in top spot after they ran out 2-0 winners against Frome Town. Jadyn Crosbie set them on their way just before half-time and then Dayle Grubb sealed the game on 64 minutes.

A couple of teams scored five goals away from home. Chertsey Town won 5-0 at Marlow with five different goalscorers as Luke Robertson and Jack Mazzone found the net in the opening period before Conor Lee, Lewis Flatman and Tobias Little grabbed the second half goals.

Also hitting five were Dorchester Town as they triumphed 5-1 at Sholing where Oliver Haste opened the scoring for the visitors early on only for Daniel Fitchett to level matters going into the break. The opening ten minutes of the second half saw three goals in quick succession as Olaf Konzsela hit two of the goals, with an effort from Luke Pardoe sandwiched in between. Konzsela then went on to claim his hat-trick late on.

It was a night for the away teams as there were four more victories on the road. A brace from Liam Ferdinand helped Basingstoke Town triumph at Hanwell Town, for whom Jordan Edwards pulled a goal back. It was the same scoreline for Bracknell Town who recovered from going a goal down in the first minute at Hungerford Town thanks to a Dawid Regula strike. Anthony Cheshire levelled just past the half-hour mark before Liam Tack popped up with a stoppage time winner.

There was also a 2-1 win for AFC Totton at Plymouth Parkway. Tony Lee set the visitors on their way with an early opener and then added a second five minutes from the interval. Dylan Jones went on to pull a goal back in the 50th minute but his side couldn’t find a way back. A late goal from Harvey Bradbury was the difference for Havant & Waterlooville in their game at Poole Town.

Wimborne Town had a commanding 3-0 home victory against Tiverton Town. All three goals came in the second half as Will Fletcher, Jez Bedford and Josh Carmichael found the net. There was another three points for Swindon Supermarine following their success at the weekend as goals from Ioan Richards and Harry Williams in either half gave them a 2-0 triumph over Winchester City.

The night’s other game saw a late equaliser earn Walton & Hersham a point from their home game against Gosport Borough. Recent arrival, Jordan Esprit, put the hosts ahead on the quarter-hour mark but the visitors hit back at the start of the second period as Sam Faniyan and Cameron Murray turned the scoreline on its head. Joseph Jones popped up to make it 2-2 in the final minute.

Over in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, leaders, Bedford Town, lost 2-0 at Banbury United, for whom Jaanai Gordon and AJ George got the goals. Breathing down their neck in second place now are in-form Kettering Town who won 2-1 at Bromsgrove Sporting. Ethan Patterson put the home side ahead midway through the opening period before Nile Ranger levelled matters on the stroke of half-time. A penalty on the hour from new signing Jonny Edwards won the day for the away side.

These are halcyon days for Harborough Town and they enjoyed a 4-1 away win at Stourbridge. Freddie Robinson put them ahead early on and they then had to wait until the final 15 minutes to add to their lead as Ben Stephens scored. Stoppage time saw two more goals from Robinson and a consolation from Elliott Durrell for the home side.

Also enjoying their away trip were Spalding United who were 3-0 victors at Royston Town. Bartosz Cybulski and Jordan Nicholson found the net in the first half and then Lamine Sherif sealed the win in stoppage time at the end.

There was a 2-1 victory for Lowestoft Town over Bishop’s Stortford. Harvey Sayer set them on their way on 67 minutes only for Olumide Oluwatimilehin to restore parity with ten minutes to go. There was still time for Joao Soares Rangel to grab a late winner.

The remaining two games finished 1-1 as AFC Telford United came from behind to share the spoils with Alvechurch as Ammar Dyer’s early opener was cancelled out by Sam Whittall, whilst it was honours even between Hitchin Town and Leiston.

There were two games in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South.

After playing out a 5-5 draw at the weekend, Bristol Manor Farm were involved in another thriller at Malvern Town as they lost 5-4. It was the visitors who went ahead through Louis Britton early on but that was cancelled out by Ibrahim Olateju who scored his second goal in as many games for the hosts. Britton soon restored the visitors’ advantage but Charlie Johnson levelled just before the break. Just after the hour, Sam Clark put the home team ahead for the first time but it only lasted three minutes before Britton completed his hat-trick. A second goal from Olateju put the hosts back ahead but with nine minutes to go, Britton hit his fourth to level things up. Clark then popped up with a dramatic stoppage time winner.

The evening’s other game saw Bishops Cleeve beat Tavistock AFC 3-0 with Aaron Evans-Harriott, Ross Langworthy and Ethan Dunbar getting the goals.
Mousehole’s home clash with Westbury United fell victim of the wet weather.
