BISHOP'S STORTFORD | DASILVA LINING

Three wins in a row leaves Premier Central outfit looking to bright future

He may have received a cheeky little assist from Storm Bert, but Cole Dasilva’s goal direct from a corner was enough to earn Bishop’s Stortford their third Pitching In Southern League Premier Central win in a row last weekend.

The 1-0 victory over Barwell made it four League games unbeaten and left the Hertfordshire outfit eying a place in the top half of the table as we enter a busy phase of the season with the fixtures coming thick and fast.

“I was delighted with the goal,” Dasilva told us. “It’s not often you score direct from a corner, so I’ll take that!

“Obviously there was a little bit of luck involved, but sometimes that’s what you need. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, the weather conditions made sure of that, but we worked hard, defended our box well and showed plenty of desire and character to get over the line and secure another three points.

“Our form has been a bit up and down so far this season. We started well then our form tailed off, but it’s picking up again now and we’re getting back to our best.

“We have a good group here so we need to build on that consistency and keep climbing the table. We’re up to 11th now and with plenty of points to play for coming up, our aim is to get into that top half and start making an impact.

“We’re confident in what we can do. Even when things weren’t going our way, we still had that belief. It’s a tough League but there’s no reason why we can’t be challenging amongst the leading pack.

“I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve played in this League before so I knew what to expect going into the season and it’s been a case of adapting back and getting my form going again. There is a lot of talent throughout this League, that’s for sure!

“As we approach a busy time of the season, the mood here is positive. We’ve had some good results recently and that has filled everyone with confidence. As I say, the belief has always been there and now we just have to keep building momentum.

“Hopefully from a personal point of view, I can keep performing and contributing through goals and assists. The most important thing is that I am enjoying my football and playing with a smile on my face.”

An away trip to Stratford Town awaits on Saturday for Dasilva and his team-mates.
