The PST Sport Club of the Month Awards for January 2025 have been announced.
In the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, the winners are Alvechurch.
The month got underway in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 away win at Lowestoft Town. Dylan Allen-Hadley got things going with a goal in the opening seconds and it was followed by further strikes from Joe Willis and Archie Crowther, with another Allen-Hadley goal sandwiched in between.
A hard-earned 3-2 victory over Barwell followed, with Dylan Allen-Hadley bagging another brace as Brad Stretton hit a dramatic stoppage time winner.
It was a very similar story in the next game as they beat high-flying AFC Telford United 3-1. Despite falling behind, Joe Willis got them back on level terms before Allen-Hadley did his thing with another two-goal haul to leave Tim Flowers’ side with maximum points from their January games.
The Pitching In Southern League Premier South winners were Hungerford Town, who took the award on goal difference from Hanwell Town.
A 3-1 away triumph at Swindon Supermarine heralded in the month as Joseph Marquez Espada put them ahead early on and whilst they were pegged back just before the break, George Smith and Anthony Dwyer found the net in the second half to secure the victory.
Their next outing saw them come from behind to beat Sholing 2-1 as Joseph Marquez Espada found the net for the second game in succession before Luke Softley bagged the winner.
An away point at Walton & Hersham came next as Kyle Tooze fired them in front early on, only for the hosts to level matters in the opening exchanges of the second period. They were back on the road for their next game but this time it yielded an excellent 4-0 win at Bracknell Town.
Two goals from the in-form Marquez Espada came at the start and end of the game with further goals from Rhys Tyler and Curtis Angell in between to make it a solid month for the Crusaders.
Picking up the award in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central are Real Bedford.
The League leaders started the month by coming from behind to win 3-1 at Ware as second half strikes from Joey Evans, Tyriq Ward and Ben Stevens saw them add to their points tally.
It set them up for their top of the table clash with Berkhamsted, which they ended up winning convincingly 5-1 with all six goals coming in an action-packed second half. Josh Setchell, Joey Evans, Ben Stevens, Anthony Agemoh-Davies and Callum Nicolson all got their names on the scoresheet in what was a statement victory.
It led to another home triumph, this time 3-1 over Leverstock Green, as Joey Evans, Isaac Galliford and Josh Setchell found the net against stubborn opponents. They achieved the same scoreline in their next outing, an away trip to Welwyn Garden City, where Josh Setchell put them ahead only for the home team to level matters and it stayed that way until the final minute when Joey Evans and Tom Hitchcock grabbed two late goals for a familiar 3-1 scoreline.
Finally, in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South it is Falmouth Town who take the accolade.
The month started with a hard-earned New Year’s Day success at Willand Rovers where Rubin Wilson’s goal in the final 20 minutes proved to be the difference.
It was a bit more convincing in their next encounter as they chalked up a 4-1 victory over Didcot Town with Rubin Wilson setting them on their way and although their opponents levelled matters soon afterwards, goals from Oliver Walker, Jared Sims and Luke Barner gave them a deserved three points.
A 6-0 away win at Thatcham Town was next up as they dominated from start to finish with the goals shared around between Brad Leivers, Jack Webber, Oliver Walker, Rubin Wilson, Luke Barner and Luke Brabyn.
The month ended with another away win, this time at Bideford AFC, as they responded to a half-time deficit by grinding out victory thanks to an equaliser from top scorer, Rubin Wilson, and an impressive late winner from Luke Barner. It was a result which saw them continue their climb up the table.
We congratulate the four winners:
