REVIEW | TUESDAY ACTION

A round-up of the evening's games

There has been action this evening in three of our four divisions.

Starting in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South and Kettering Town left it late to get the winner at Alvechurch as the returning Luca Miller secured a hard-earned three points with just nine minutes remaining. It was a result which fired them to the top of the table.

It was goalless at Biggleswade Town where the home side and opponents, Leiston, cancelled each other out as it ended with the spoils shared.

Over in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South, leaders, Yate Town, left it late to secure a 2-1 win at Westbury United, who were back on home soil. King Baidoo opened the scoring early on for the visitors but it was cancelled out when Bevan Cross found the net as half-time loomed. The winner came in stoppage time at the end from the ever-green Marlon Jackson.

There was also late drama in the Cornish derby as Falmouth Town heaped more misery on Helston Athletic when Luke Barner bagged what proved to be the decisive goal just a couple of minutes from the end.

A tenth minute strike from Joe Smith gave Bemerton Heath Harlequins a big victory over fellow play-off hopefuls, Bishops Cleeve. The result puts the hosts into the top five as the visitors suffered a second successive defeat to move down to seventh spot.

There were five games in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central with the big news being a home defeat for second-place Berkhamsted as they succumbed 3-1 to Beaconsfield Town. Quickfire goals from Troy Silvera and Luke Neville gave the visitors a two-goal advantage around the quarter-hour mark and although Matty Bateman pulled one back on the stroke of half-time, Manuchim Oke-William sealed the win for his side midway through the second period.

It was a better night for third-place Flackwell Heath who had a resounding 5-0 triumph over Aylesbury United. Harrison Mepham and Ed Lee put them in command early on before Lewis Pegg hung the visitors out to dry with a third goal right on half-time. Lee then increased the hosts’ lead early in the second period before James Ayres rounded the scoring off.

Hadley battled out a 1-0 away win at Leverstock Green thanks to Richard Ennin’s goal with just under 20 minutes to go. The win moves them back into the top five on goal difference.

Also winning away were Ware who chalked up a 3-1 success at Northwood. Gucci Soulya-Osekanongo turned on the style to put the away team ahead only for Samuel Folarin to fashion an equaliser. Just before the half-hour mark, Chukuma Okotcha put the visitors back in front and then Timothy Okwusogu rounded things off late on.

Finally, AFC Dunstable and Kings Langley played out a goalless draw which leaves both teams positioned within the lower half of the table.
